How to calculate your costs and prices
BakeWorth helps you calculate the cost of a recipe and evaluate its sale price. Use it for cakes, bread and other baked goods without creating an account.
BakeWorth is a free magicotools tool for home bakers and small bakery businesses. It supports English and Spanish and DOP, USD, EUR, GBP, JPY and KWD denominations, without currency exchange conversion.
How to use the calculator
- Enter how many units or portions you make, then add each ingredient with its package quantity, purchase price and quantity used.
- Include working time, your hourly rate and additional batch expenses such as boxes or decorations.
- Choose margin or markup to see a suggested price. You can also enter your own price to evaluate estimated profit or loss.
What the results mean
Total production cost includes ingredients, labor and additional expenses. Unit cost divides that total by your yield. Markup is added to cost; margin describes profit as a share of the sale price. Only compatible units are converted, and changing currency does not convert amounts. Results depend on your inputs and do not include taxes or waste.
Methodology and fictional example
Each ingredient costs package price × quantity used ÷ quantity purchased, after converting compatible units. Labor is minutes ÷ 60 × hourly rate. Ingredients, labor and expenses add up to batch cost; dividing by the number of units produced gives unit cost. Markup price is cost × (1 + percentage ÷ 100); margin price is cost ÷ (1 − percentage ÷ 100).
Fictional simplified example, not a complete recipe: a 1 kg flour package costs DOP 80 and 350 g are used. Add 90 minutes at DOP 200 per hour and DOP 12 in expenses. The yield is 12 units. The following amounts use the same BakeWorth engine and are displayed to two decimal places.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account or payment?
No. The current calculator is free and requires no account or subscription.
What works offline?
After a successful first load and the browser caching the PWA files, you can calculate and edit the draft offline. A first visit, downloading updates and some installation actions require a connection and browser support.
Where are my recipes saved?
One draft and your preferences are automatically saved in this browser’s localStorage. They are not sent to a server or synchronized between devices. Clearing site data, private browsing or storage restrictions may prevent saving or cause data loss. There is no history or cloud recovery.
What are the limits of the results?
Results depend on your inputs: taxes, waste and inventory are not calculated automatically. Additional expenses must be entered manually. Grams are not converted to milliliters. A 30% margin and 30% markup produce different prices because their bases differ; target margin must be below 100%. Suggested prices do not guarantee profit.
